Sand & Sea Sunday's

Hello there gypsea's!
Another Sunday of Sun,Sand and Sea.
But guess what?
All season I could not find hardly any of my favorite
treasures to collect.
Can you guess what?

Last season I found bucket fulls long the Jersey Shore...
This year..
Practically nada!
Last season I scored in all different colors, shapes,
eras....
purples..
browns...

white, clears...
large ones..
Soft greens..
pale blues..
deeper violets..

Yes, I would find tons!!

Even Cobalt. this year I scoured day in and day out...

And still..Maybe a piece here or there.
What happened this year?
who is behind this torture?
Where did it all go?

All I wanted was atleast ONE bucket full this year.
This is really bothering me!
Hope you are all enjoying the sun and sand1
Any insight would be appreciated!

  1. There are more people making things with seaglass these days, and I'm sure that is why there is less to be found. Maybe soon some more will get tossed up from the depths.

There is a place in California called Sea Glass Beach, and it has TONS of seaglass. I've heard differing stories about this place. One says you can get a permit to collect, and another says it's illegal to collect there. Of course, a sea glass beach on the OTHER side of the US doesn't do us much good anyway. sigh. I recently resorted to buying some from an etsy seller.

Your pieces are lovely! The purple, aqua, and pink are just amazing! I hope you can find a big haul of seaglass soon!

  2. Hi Sweetie...
I agree with Della, so many people are working with sea glass now, I think it is making it harder for you to find the beautiful treasures on the shores. We can pray for some to get washed up on the shores soon, as your work with it, is positively yummy. I love seeing all of your creations. They so touch my heart and soul.

I hope you are doing well. I think of you often sweet friend. Don't forget to stop by many times between August 12-18th and leave messages. Each one will count as a 1.00. We need all that we can collect. All-- Please pass the word around as well and send them my way. We need comments.

Have a glorious weekend sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  3. So glad I have been able to link up as I've had a few problems doing so the last few weeks.

In Sydney we rarely get any sea glass washed up on the beach. People are very adverse to throwing stuff over board due to a big advertsing campaign. Shame it wasn't the same on land.

I'm having a give away of a lovely Danish made porcelain house number. I'd love it if you popped over the join in.

  5. It may be that offshore dumping sites have been closed and there is no more glass being disposed of in that area? More people are recycling and also less bottle are made from glass.

I collected lots of sea glass from beaches in Southern Italy. It was heavy to carry around for the rest of my trip but it's my favorite souvenir :)

  8. I love the purple and violet seaglass, how unique!!! What a shame that you weren't able to find any this year:( I often wonder that about shells here in So Cal, there aren't any shells on the beaches by us yet when I go to FL they're all over the place...weird!

  9. Hubby and I just spent the whole day at the beach and I found one piece of sea glass; brown! We have so many tourists here that the glass gets picked up and there is never any left for we Islanders. Anyway, I threw it back into the water because I don't care for the brown. It comes from the dreaded beer bottle which I detest so...I really enjoyed your post and your photos are wonderful!

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  10. Love your beach glass my dear! I am sorry that there was not much this year, it looks like many other people love it as well. I wish we had more along the Great Lakes, I usually only find a piece once a year. :)
I hope you are doing well.
    Hugs to you sweet mermaid!

  12. Gorgeous glass! It's a shame the sea goblins stole so much of it away from you this year. :(
