Flowers for Moi

Hey there all...
a very simple post today for Good Life Wednesday's,  Cottage Flora Thursday's and Outdoor Wednesday
But I thought I would share with you

a simple gesture. That would warm any mothers heart.
Now you know my mini pirate here...

Well, the other week on one of our many
excursions we pass this little road stand.
Everytime we pass it, we mean to stop but never do.
And this day.. Mama Mermaid was not feeling too hot
So Maxi boy asks if we could stop.
So of course I do.
He has a five dollar bill in his hand he never used to get his bunker fish, so out the door he goes.
All these Snapple jars filled with fresh cut flowers from across the street in the owners field!
And the pirate ponders...
Until he decides which one would be perfect.
I have to admit...
As simple as they were,
they were just so so sweet and lively!
so he found his bunch.
Now...
the funny part is,
He gives the young man his precious 5 dollar bill
Collects his change,
Then turns to me and says
"Here Mom, don't worry, I'll always be here to buy you flowers."
(yes, as I write this I have tears....again!)
So big hugs are in order!
And then off we go.
Until 4 minutes into the ride I hear a yelp!
And I am like Dear God.. what happened!
I practically killed us both!
And Maxi is like...
"Mom...Mom... how much were those flowers???"
I tell him only $1.00.
and he says...
"Well how come he gave me back 6 ones?"
Gotta love it!
Have a great weekend all...

A Twist To My Type Of Garden

I am going to take you into my journey,
A place that reminds me of childhood fairytales
Such as Alice In Wonderland.
But better than that it includes my favorite element.
H2O.
I have bypassed the "main" entrance, for I am saving that for
'SAND AND SEA SUNDAY'S'
So for now I will start you at the top.
A quiet deserted area, where there are trails, mysteries, forgotten wildlife.

And a true beach lovers favorite.
DRIFTWOOD.
Through the tumbling trails,
prickly arches,
narrow walkways...
Natures finest awaits for the mini pirate and I to
do some good ole recycle, clean up the Earth work!
I must say, if I only had a saw and and a back that could manage all of this,
I would have truck loads!
But don't you worry...this Gypsea did NOT leave empty handed!
Gazing at these beauties that rose way above our heads...
Or stuck deeply rooted under years of sand.
Besides being greedy and wanting it all,
It was a site to behold.
Imagination was running wild...
But man were they stuck in that ground!
So after climbing up through or magical fortress,
We ventured back down to the sea...
Even though Mama Gyps needed a 'little break'
So the mini pirate thought he was entitled to one too.
Although his involved more of a "Tarzan" type break!

So back waterside we were...
oohhing and aahhhing...
Plotting on how we could manage to grab these beauties!
but we could only handle small amounts.
But are heading back ,
PREPARED this time!
After all our climbing and gathering it was getting late and time to cool off and go...
So mini P waded in the sea...
And Mama soaked her tired feet.
(of course still hunting!)
So this may not be your "typical" garden...
But for me...
This is paradise!

Jersey Shore House Florals

All along the town where our shore house is, the roads are divided with lush turf with colorful arrangements of flowers, bushes and such.
So pleasing it is to the eye... even just driving through.

Bright firey lilies mixed in with others...

Many homeowners have impatients, petunias and of course our beloved hydrangea's.

Even as you walk the curving entrances to the beach, you will find wild birds, reptiles, and an abundance of wild flowers trying to peek their way through!

It appears that purple infusions were a big hit this year!

Even at night as you sneak to the life guard stands, you will find these beauties looming above you.

Now the entrance into heavens delight!
But I am only going to give you a tease today!

Multiple x's Multiple windows and their boxes overflowing!

And as you turn to the right of the house ( it sits on a corner) you have 2 entrances into our paradise!

This is the second... and the flowers surround.

Passerby's often try to peak through the large Arborvitae.

But at night it may not even be necessary, with the built in fore place aglow...the recessed lighting hidden in the teak rafters..and the glimmer from the soft light of the pool.. or from the bar area in the far back.

The perfect spot for some color, reading or just relaxation.

And for kicks.... this is the very far left of the house.  That black iron gate will lead you right to the bar you saw from the other side of the corner street.

So there you have it.
The Jersey Shore Landscaping gig.....

Sunset is one of the most perfect times to see the beauty of it all!
Now next Thursday.. I may give you some more "peeks"
But I found a very "unusual" home I guess I should say, and her flower and landscaping design is a treat!
Till then... Head on over to Cottage Flora Thursday's for some more inspiration!

Impressions of Maui

 Imagine looking over this edge..

And to your wonderful surprise you see this!
Wouldn't that be soooo nice right about now??
I personally think this next one would be better...
Because then I could hop on that pink Catamaran
and go search for a pirate!
As some of you may know,
My parents have a place on the "Big Island"
But that never stopped us from going to visit the other ones...
These are all from Maui
(yes a fav of mine!)
And of course my mother forever being the Grand Dame Gardener
We can't go ANYWHERE without snapping a million photographs
of flowers.
So here are a few we got....
Yes..
I am only going to post a few, not her 10 million!
These are some Protea flowers and the spiky ones are Pincushions.
They are found in the upcountry of Maui in KULA on the slopes of Haleakalc.

A red Protea...
This is the Torch Ginger Flower...
These babies love plenty of water!
And Ti Leave you can find everywhere...
They are more abundant in especially wetter areas.
Just a random shot of some of the wild ones that you will find
in tons of different spots..
I must say.... I love all of them..
and when displayed..they are simply to die for!
But the most fun is what I saw while passing by one day...
Now maybe If I can get on that Pink Catamaran and Find a Pirate..
I could do this type of wedding!
hehehe!
