A Small Treasure Hunt

Well I am back in NJ, seeing the spinal surgeon, getting cleared to go back on 

'The Ward" this weekend.

Ugh 14-16 hour shifts, Friday~Sat~Sun.

So, this mermaid decided she was well deserved to a trip to her fav stomping grounds...

In search of what I can NEVER find in Florida,

GLASS!

I also needed the downtime...

The smell of the sea I grew up with

To think about my future

My dad

Me.

So off I went playing hooky with my mini mermaid and pirate.

Usually I have great luck at 'my spot,'

But today just didn't look to hot.

On top of it, Miss Mini....is not as much of a true beach hunter like the Mini P and me.

So we started cruising along.

I knew I missed the big spell of gathering all my Welch's,

But I did get a little lucky at one point.

I found a few more, but one of the things I found a lot of is this....

There was tons more...but my camera battery died right at the end of our hunt...

So you'll have to wait till I get it all together to show you the HUGE batch!

But still...what was my main goal?

GLASS!

Still, zero..nothing..

Then I got a little zing.

This was the first one I found....

then,

Oh..what a gorgeous color in person!

And as we started to head back....

(i really was starting to lose hope, plus I had to pee!)

I stumbled upon...

This was actually about 3 1/2-4" in length and real thick!

I found a few other white and amber colored ones in the next few minutes.

Then low and behold...

The biggest piece in this color I ever found as we were about to head out...

YES!

SCORE!!!!

And I will not lie..

I was jumping around worse than my kids would...

(luckily, I did not pee!)

So my day might have been a little short...

Ending up sweet.

Just spending time with the kids...

Kinda made some, above picture not included, BLUES go away.

Like they say...

There ain't nothing that the sun, sea, salt water and sand can't heal..

Right?

Sand and Sea Sunday

The time has come for me to say goodbye to the Jersey Shore.
This mermaid is finally, on a wing and a prayer...with nothing but a few things,
Heading South.
So I gathered up some special times this past year beachside

With of course, my mini pirate and mini me.

We went hunting year round us gypseas 3 muskateers.

From the fall...

To the winter...

Then into spring and summer...

I always had my 2 favorite pals with me.

Now, they will be here up North for awhile, until we decide to pull them either mid year or at the end.

To be honest, I don't know how I will survive.

But for now....

HAPPY THOUGHTS!

Or funny I should say...

Hey, any of you GOT FISH?

Yep, Maxi boy and his cut off fish for bait!

UGH!!!

I mean, I keep trying to explain to people.. I don't do FISH, ANIMALS, or MAMMALS.

I cut PEOPLE.

I know, I know.. they look at me kinda strange...but your talking to an ex OR nurse...

So, throughout our journeys...

As we sailed away sometimes...

Or decided to Charter it...

We always had a blast...
The mini pirate especially, when he found "strange" treasures washed ashore.

Just what a pirate is looking for... right?

His obsession with anything alive or dead that comes up...

Max out of the 3 of us, was always on the look out!

Me, personally it was for my shells or

Or my sea glass...

Or my heart shaped stones.

My mini mermaid usually preferred the shade with a book...but would join in at any given moment.

Yes, I am going to miss them something fierce...

God just give me the strength to get through it....

I will be taking a little leave from blog world Tuesday... As my journey begins.

Blue Monday...Blue Skies...Blue H2O

Hey all you gypsea's..

Hope you had  fabulous weekend, 

I finally went beach side to test out the back,

the foot with only 1/2 feeling left and so on.

But sad to say... this mermaid can no longer go

hours and hours on end and scour...

But I did get in enough time to get a few scores...

With the blue water...

Baby seagulls in a forming tide pool...

Awesome shot due to some high winds..

See...?

The mini pirate and I got to hunting!

He also served as my watch dog for any holes in the sand 

that I may not see, 

and we know, I don't want any of that!

So, one of our first signs, was the usual clear/white sea glass.

Now is the time for the snails..(Moonstones) to start appearing..

And then to my utmost surprise...

What do you think I came across?

I was shocked!

Yes!! A sand dollar!

In New Jersey!!

Not as pretty as the ones I find in Florida,

but just that we found one here made up jump for joy!

So as the pirate and I finished up in the water and back onto the sand...

We nicknamed it the Day of the Dead, due to all the washed up horseshoe crabs.

Then I stumble upon another of my favorite beachy treasures...

Tell me that is not the coolest piece EVER!!!!

So by the time I knew I needed to rest this achy back..

Ahhh.. just looking at them makes me happy!

So stay tuned, this coming weekend will be my last at the 

Jersey Shore.

Cause this mermaid is finally heading south!!!
Yippee!!
